    "Annual Blessing of the Bikes"

    Bellingham

RAIN or SHINE

We are leaving Anacortes 28th and Q, at 8 AM sharp, please come fueled and ready to go.

We will be staging a little earlier so we can go over road rules and prayer. We will pick up our mainland buddies at Cook Road Shell at 8:30, and ride north to Bellingham from there.

Breakfast is served when we get there, usually hot cakes bacon sausage eggs, coffee and juice, worth the ride in itself. If it gets too rainy, some of us will ride home after the prayer, instead of going on the ride, and barbecue which follows. I hope you can all make it Call me with any questions

Neah Bay

turned into Mosquito Lake Rd.

Notes from George

Saturday morning CTK left at 7:15 for the ferry in Coupeville. Though it was sunny here, as we left town, we could see a huge fog-bank to the south. I was silently praising God for the slight chill of the morning ride, knowing that the weather forecast was hot and sunny by noon.

We made it to the ferry line, and found out that the fog was too thick for the run, and the first boat would run at 11 AM at the earliest. BUMMER !!!!!!!! But God had a super ride plan. Some times the unplanned rides are the best.

We had breakfast in Coupeville, and rode back to the Shell staion by the golf course for fuel, then rode backroads through Laconner, and mindlessly followed Terry Kiser, who led us down Dodge Valley road, and losing ground by turning back north on Valentine Road, then down Fir Island and over to Hiway 9. Sometimes mindless meandering makes a fun ride. You see roads that normally we are in too much of a hurry to ride on.

Once on hiway 9 Richard Deutsch took the lead and gave, us the perfect speed through the turns all the way to Sedro Wooley! I was urging Mary Stoughton to lead for a while, but she was happy to sit back and enjoy the ride, so Jim Pemberton took the lead north to Maple Falls, including the very fun Mosquito Lake Road (see details), which Mary said is now her favorite bike road.

Jim Asseln and Richard Deutsch split off from us to go back on Hiway 9, the rest of us came home via Chuckanut!

I loved God's ride plan, we still managed to ride almost 240 miles, just stumbling around. The original idea of Neah Bay for lunch is still a good one, which I am sure we will do some day!

Remember the Monday night Ice Cream Rides are still happening for a few more weeks. Last nights ride included Chuckanut Drive, I never tire of that road. God Bless you George
